Making transitions from home to nursery
We offer and explain to every family the value and importance of a home visit by your child’s Key Person.
After the home visit, we will arrange for a ‘Play & Stay’ session for you and your child. Your key person will be there to welcome you and answer any questions you may have
Knowing a trusting face when your child first arrives at nursery will ease and help their settling process. We understand that leaving your child for the first time can also be a worrying time for parents. Rest assured, we are happy to work with you and give you a quick call to let you know how they are settling.
Making transitions from one room to another
When children move from one room to another, their key person will spend time to discuss and hand over the child’s learning & development to the new key person, their next steps will be discussed and planning will be moved over.
Parents will have the opportunity to come in with the child for a ‘stay & play’ session to meet their new key person.
Transitions to school
We have a large number of children that feed into Herne C of E Infant School, therefore we have very strong links with Herne Infant school.
- Once each school confirm who will be attending which school, Little Acorns will arrange a time for the class teacher to visit the children in our setting.
- Children will meet with their new teacher, we add teachers photo to their Learning Journal.
- The key person will discuss the child’s learning & development with the Teacher.
- A transition document of your child’s progress and their current next steps will be sent to your child’s new school after you have had time to see and agree this information.
